Kia Niro EV: Wind vs Wave — Which Trim Should You Buy?

Nov 20, 2025

The Kia Niro EV is a sensible electric crossover, but choosing between the two main trims on the used market can be tricky. Both versions share the same 64.8 kWh battery and 253 miles of range, meaning you aren't paying for more distance. Instead, the jump from Wind to Wave is all about the creature comforts and tech that define your daily driving experience.

The Luxury Breakdown

The Wind trim is the value hero, often found for significantly less than the Wave on the second-hand market. It still offers a high-quality interior and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation. However, the Wave trim introduces features that are usually reserved for high-end luxury brands: ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system. Perhaps most importantly, the Wave includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing you to use the car as a giant battery for camping gear or emergency power.

Andrew's Summary Take

If you have a strict budget, the Wind trim is a great package for the money. But if you crave ventilated seats, more ADAS amenities, or want the V2L party trick, the Wave is a worthy upgrade.
